Nobuaki Furuya (Waseda University)

Although Tanohata village was damaged by the Tohoku Earthquake, a roadside station was reopened 10 later. This project aims to create a building that mimics the topography of the Tanohata village’s broad plateau with its curved undulating roof. The roof’s gambrel shape is characteristic of areas with heavy snowfall. The continuous irregular changes its expression depending on the angle. The exposed wood inside is red pine lumber sourced locally in Iwate Prefecture.
