With a “Experience Hokkaido” concept, this is Japan’s first hybrid timber structure high-rise hotel that has an extreme ambition to maximize the use of local materials from building construction to operation such as food and beverage. The building structure is entirely made of wood from 9th floor and above, with a reinforced concrete frame for the levels below (CLT slab also on 8th floor). Our aim was to create a sustainable building by using over 1,200 m3 of timber, reducing CO2 emissions in construction activities, and reusing timber waste generated during construction.
