The new redevelopment of Hosei University Ichigaya Campus, in the privileged location in Tokyo between the Yasukuni Shrine and the Imperial Palace’s outer moat, introduced “Environmental Axis” that link these two historic sites and “Campus Axis” centered axes through the campus. These axes opened up spaces where there were previous congested university buildings, by introducing a series of public plazas and pilotis, allowing us to enhance airflow and provide for greater open areas to activate students throughout the campus, letting the students feel they are at the center of the campus.
