This is a new public broadcasting station in Otsu built to replace the aging former building. While located in an urban district centered on Shiga Prefectural Office, the site faces a quiet residential area along Old Tokaido Road where Otsu Machiya townhouses still stand. Due to Shiga’s unique topography that slopes down to Lake Biwa, we carefully analyzed the land characteristics and repeated planning and sectional planning. The aim was to create a base for regional revitalization, with a place of “connection” to bring together and link with people and local resources.
