Mitsuru Hirai, Sayu Yamaguchi (Meguro Architecture Laboratory)

Fukuyama higashi police station Ekimae KOBAN is newly constructed in front of the Fukuyama Station planned in the development projects: Fukuyama Station Area Revitalization Vision”and the“Fukuyama Station Area Design Plan”, to rejuvenate this area as a gateway to the Bingo region. Our design aim is to create the small landmark police box that safeguards people, and likewise the nightlight in Tomonoura. The building form, the composition of all functions around the centered tower that bring natural lighting and ventilation, bridges the scale between human and growing cityscape the area in front of the station.
