Ryu Mitarai (RYU MITARAI & ASSOCIATES, ARCHITECTS)

We attempted a new form of layered architecture that continues to build dynamic relationships with the neighborhood and the natural environment. Half of the building is semi-outdoor, wrapped in and open to the outside. A special rigid frame structure is created with square and round columns of different lengths and diameters arranged in a staggered pattern, rising up at the same time and supported by huge beams. Relying on this structural frame, the space is spun according to the situation, environment, and relationships of the place, and we hope that this diverse and discoverable place will stimulate people’s activeness.
