Midori Oshima, Daisuke Komatsu (Fukei)

In Kita-Kamakura, it’s not uncommon to find yourself wandering into someone’s property while walking along a path. The area’s varied topography often reveals unexpected scenic views at the end of such detours. This dynamic shift in perspectives, along with the everyday scenes where public and private spaces blend seamlessly in the alleys, became the foundational principle for the design of this residence. By building two homes for friends around a courtyard that gently connects to the surrounding environment, a new model of communal living and mutual support within the neighborhood was created.
