Hideki Ishii (Ishii Hideki Architect Atelier)

Passing through a dense grove, one arrives at a silent plateau carved by the gorge. What appears is a facade-less architecture, marked only by a bamboo-covered roof dissolving into the landscape. The circular building is embedded at the edge of the plateau, opening radially toward the valley so that views extend outward from every interior space. Acting as a mediator between overwhelming nature and the human body, the architecture transforms awe into an inhabitable landscape, reconstituting nature as experience and amplifying the site’s inherent qualities.
