It is the reconstruction plan for the headquarters and office building of a credit union, located on site overlooking Hamamatsu Castle. The building is enveloped in terracotta louvers that gradually change angles with comfortable solar radiation, airflow, and a great view. Offset perimeter columns create a soothing engawa space with a pleasant double-height atrium connecting floors, introducing flexibility into the workplace. Aiming for the basic office functions through a contemporary interpretation of traditional Japanese architecture, the design embraces environmental variations and irregularities proactively, without imposing unnecessary constraints on structure or systems.
