Masayuki Hirao, Yutaka Umehara, Kohsaku Mitsuhashi (TAKENAKA CORPORATION)

This is an office building located in Lot-21 of the Italian Town in Shiodome, Minato-ku, Tokyo. To harmonize with the existing Italian-style streetscape, the exoskelton wall system with staggered stacked precast concrete blocks is adopted as a “modernized masonry work.” And, together with Lot-20, which was completed earlier by the same client, the building creates new vitality by opening the lower facilities to the community. Also, while the portico space formed by arched columns enhances continuity with the Italian Town, improving the area’s unity and walkability.
