Near Hōryū-ji Temple, the world’s oldest wooden structure. The site is near Horyuji Temple, the world’s oldest wooden structure. Inspired by Horyuji, a double wooden corridor was installed inside and outside to encourage circulation. The central hall serves as a space for play, surrounded by corridors for exhibitions and reading. The outer corridor facing the garden serves as both an entrance and an engawa veranda. The corridors seamlessly connect the entire nursery, creating an environment that encourages free play and a safe, secure space. Incorporating Nara-produced logs into the design, it provides a wood education environment where children can directly touch the timber.
